Mariners bats come alive in 11-11 tie vs. Colorado

The long wait for the Mariners offense to come alive looks like it’s over just in time for the Season Opener on Monday against Oakland. In what was truly a Spring Training game match up,  the Mariners played the high scoring Colorado Rockies this evening down in New Mexico. While the offense looked great the pitching was a bit shaky, particularly David “Dutch” Aardsma who continued his struggle to find the plate this spring in an eighth inning outing where he gave up 3 runs.Chad Cordero did come in at the end and looked good, perhaps he’s returning to his old form when he was with the Nationals where he saved 47 games in 2005.Sweeney went 1 for 2 to keep his average above 500 and Chone Figgins knocked his first homer of the Spring out of the park early on in this slugfest. We play again tomorrow then on to SF for a game Sunday before opening up the 2010 season in Oakland Monday night. One thing that has impressed me most about this spring is the depth the  Mariners have in the minors, this is comforting for as we all know a lot can happen in a 162 game season.Go M’s
