Fister Cages Birds M’s win 8-2

Doug Fister pitched another gem tonight in front of the smallest crowd in Safeco history. The Mariners are back to 500 after Doug “Mr. Fister” held the Baltimore Orioles hitless thru 6 and the offense exploded for 7 runs in the 3rd capped by a 2-run dinger by Casey Kotchman. Not sure where the fans were tonight certainly not watching the NBA playoffs with the Sonics long gone, but our team is proving itself in new surprising ways.

Not only Fister and Kotchman are defying expectations but our man Franklin Gutierrez continues to tear the cover off the ball and is currently hitting 426, second best in the AL. As I mentioned yesterday I’m currently on the road down in San Diego so I have an excuse for not being at this gem, but rather than go watch the Padres -Giants came I followed this one online.I had to look twice when that 7 jumped up there in the third and I’m starting to think we are playing for keeps this year.I saw an article in the Times today saying the players don’t follow Blogs! Hey guys come over here, Jeff’s Mariners Fan Blog is a non-commercial blog for real Mariners Fans.Yes I may not have the magic of Dave Neihaus as I hunt-n-peck posts to deliver to the faithful, but were Believers! jeffsmariners.com
